Grand Porn Experiment

If the pharmaceutical industry doped the world’s water supply with stimulants as an experiment, didn’t tell anyone, and further didn’t even do a study of what the results were, would you find that of interest?

If your children, your family and your friends were having electronic waves beamed through their brains, stimulating brain changes in new and unknown ways, would you stop texting for a moment to learn more?

These were supposed to be metaphors for the topic of this post, but of course, they are not metaphoric but actual, since  plastic particles now permeate the oceans and fresh water bodies of the worlds, many urban water systems have pharmaceutical residue in the drinking water and fracking chemicals are changing rural water into who knows what.  It is not a metaphor that we are bombarded by microwave and electromagnetic waves from telecommunication towers, electrical lines and omnipresent wifi—whatever those waves are.

But suppose the examples given were metaphors, ridiculous examples of things that would certainly cause immediate outrage and quick, decisive action.  Then the segue to the next topic would make a great deal more sense.

There is a grand experiment going on that is unmeasured and undirected; that experiment is the unfettered access to endless Internet pornography by boys and men.  What is the result of this experiment?  We are just beginning to ask the question, and finding some unsettling answers.
